Flooding

The peak is expected to hit this coming Saturday. We haven't even received the water from out west yet, and this is what downtown looks like.

Thought is was pretty funny to find cattle, horses, guinea fowl, chooks and a camel running around the streets though...

x-cyclones and such

I'm glad it didn't hit as a full-blown cyclone! Imagine what Oswald could have done then! It's the rain that's driving me crazy. Heavy rainfall for the past few days, over 300mls in the last 24 hours.

Thank God for the SES and Swift Water Rescue Team or we would have had some tragic drownings in the area.

The park in front of our house is flooded and the creek beside it has turned into a raging torrent!

There's trees down everywhere, debris is littering the roads and we have no water due to a broken water main.

Thank goodness the rain has let up! I hope we've had the worst of it. I would hate to have been in Townsville or Mackay over the last few days.

Owl be seeing myself in this lovely vintage owl mirror I bought on etsy. I'm totally in love and it fits right into my collection!

DIY Solar Light Chandelier

Picked up this nice glass, but totally useless-as-an-electrical-light, chandelier from our local dump shop ($5).

Pulled out all the wiring and fixed up the ends. Found some glass crystals (ex-Xmas stock, only $3 for 8 of them) and attached them to give some sparkle and charm, and then added solar lights ($1 each) using hot glue to keep them in place.

Now I have a gorgeous recycled garden ornament that lights up the path of a night, and all for only $14.00.

Totally stoked!!

He's very social and sweet, beautiful colours, and so much smaller than her. I don't think she minds though. She's the boss now...

You know those old bamboo trays you see in op-shops and garage sales for a few cents?

Here's an idea (link) with what to do with them.

Customize the try for whoever will receive it. I made the mushroom one for myself, and the rose one for my Mum.
