It's the last Tuesday of the month - can you believe it?! My how August has flown by!
Today I'm showing another recently received treasure, and just like last week, is tied in with my darling Jake.
A lot of you will know Joy, from the wonderful JoyPatch. Well, Joy owns a Border Collie named Bundy, who is the spitting image of my dearly departed Jake. When Joy heard my story of Jake, she knew how much it would tear her up to not have Bundy anymore (they become such big parts of your life) that she decided to make me something. I received the package just before my short trip to NSW and cried so hard when I opened it up to reveal this stunning cushion.Joy, you will never know just how much your kindness and friendship meant to me when I was missing my boy most! The stories you share of your wonderful Bundy lightened my heart and I know he and Jake would have been kindred spirits!I took the cushion with my carry on luggage so I could show my family, and they love it too! A Treasure to all of us!

Daffodil Day
Daffodils are my favourite flowers! I wait eagerly every year for Daffodil Day so I can buy myself a bunch. In my relatively short lifetime, I have had five friends and one family member diagnosed with cancer, of which three friends didn't survive. Today's a day for all of us to give hope for a brighter, cancer-free future for ourselves, and for those we love.Thank you to everyone who bought some flowers, a badge, pen or keyring this year to help raise money for research!

Tuesday Treasure
It's Tuesday again, which means it's time to show another treasure!
Most of you will remember my post from a few months ago about how my beautiful border collie dog, Jake, passed away.
In the vet's waiting room was a stuffed toy dog which they had hidden "ticks" on, to try and show people how difficult they are to find. While waiting for the vet to complete tests on that terrible day, all I could do was to hug that toy dog close and cry. When we learned that Jake had passed away, we were devastated.
My wonderful vet Terry, the same vet that neutered Jake all those years ago, knew how much Jake meant to my family and I. When we collected his collar the next day, Terry gave me that stuffed dog who looked so much like my boy.I took the original collar off and he now wears the one that belonged to Jake. Registration tags and all. This stuffed dog and Jake's collar are both treasures I will always cherish! I miss you Jake...

Fox - attempt one
Well here he is, my first attempt at a little felt woodland fox!I think he turned out really well! Although there's things I'd do differently next time, I love looking at him and his naughty little smile, and those cute black whiskers. He's taken me awhile to finish. I knew what to do with the body, but getting the proportions of the head correct was quite difficult. But I finally got it right, and I think he's wonderful! What do you reckon I should name him?

Tree of Life
Well I'm feeling so much better, despite a cough that continues to cling, that I'm ready to start blogging again! Thankyou to everyone for their get well wishes!
I'm gonna show you something that I've been meaning to share for awhile -A cover for my Bible. Made of felt, thread and buttons, it fits in perfectly! Here's my Bible slipped in. It's big enough for me to fit a pen down the side so that I can underline verses too!Ahh! Simple, sweet, and something I didn't have to finish in order to start blogging again!
I still enjoy working with felt. Remember my felt squirrel? Stay tuned for my next Woodland Felt Critter!!

Lily
Sorry that I've been away from the blog for a little while. I went on a mini holiday to NSW to visit my new little niece, Lily. Here's a picture -Isn't she a doll?! I am totally smitten and in love with her! Look at that smile!! She seems to be taking after her Dad, who just happens to be a Policeman... But I can see my sister in her little face too, and am one very proud Aunty!
Unfortunately, on the way back I picked up a nasty head cold. I'm on the mend but my voice still isn't normal and my throat is hurting and swollen. I've been to the doctor and she said to get lots of bed rest and fluids, which is what I've been doing. Hopefully I'll be better soon and can spend time on the computer without forming a headache and my eyes watering from the brightness...

Tuesday Treasure
My treasure this Tuesday is a quilt my aunt made for me. The animals are stuffed so that they're 3D-ish and soft.
Click on picture to see more detail!I don't know how old I was when she made it, only that I've always had it and it's always been there! I do remember it hanging on the wall in my bedroom when I was about 3, and then again in the next house we lived in when I was 5 or so. I never took that much notice of it though, up until a few years ago when it came out of the linen cupboard during a much needed spring clean. Since then it's been hanging in my cupboard (no where to hang it on the walls) where I know it will be kept safe. Knowing that my aunt, who never did and still doesn't play a big roll in my life, made it for me when I was little, makes it one of those treasure's that will only get better with age.
Maybe this is the reason I grew up loving Australia's native animals?! lol

Swap #5
My lovely friend Sandi, from Embroideroo, swapped some owl pins for this big juicy strawberry pincushion!Doesn't it look great in the strawberry plant? Thanks Sandi, I was kind of running out of pincushions until I got this!
I love fruit, especially strawberries! My new pincushion is now safely inside and delightfully on display with the rest of my fruity collection.
